Photography with a Nikon Lens
This image has been captured with a Nikon lens, there is a great selection of Nikon lenses available so take a look at some of them here, Nikon Lens Reviews. Site
Turtle
This turtle has been captured with a Digital SLR, these cameras are very good for capturing subjects such as this due to the instant feedback you get for the image. There are many different SLR cameras on offer and a good Nikon Camera Review overview is excellent to help you make a decision on the camera. You can not go wrong the the selection of most cameras as they differ only very slightly in features.
Do You Believe in Dragons
This eastern Water Dragon has been captured with a Nikon D2H Camera and a 105mm Nikon Micro lens. Whether you shoot with a Nikon or Canon there are lenses to suit this type of photography.
Cuscus
This Cuscus has been photographed with a Nikon 200mm micro lens, it was photographed in a Zoo environment. A long close up lens such as this is excellent for capturing animals in a Zoo environment.
If you are using a Nikon camera then there is a great range of excellent lenses available to choose from. The Nikon Lens Reviews section of this site has very good summaries and reviews of the main range of Nikon lenses available.
It can be a little overwhelming selecting a lens for a particular application. Many lenses such as zooms are great when travelling and you do not wish to change lenses often.
Ferocious Animals – Dinosaurs
This would have to be one of the most ferocious animals that ever lived on earth.
This image was captured at the New York Museum of Natural History, in New York, what a fearsome creature it would have been, just look at the size of the jaw and the teeth. Nothing on Earth would compare with it today and just as well.
There is a lot of mystery associated with Dinosaurs, probably because all we know is based on the fossils which have been found and also on much of the hype which we have seen in films and dinosaur documentaries on television, much of this information is assumed data and not fact but it adds to the interest of these animals. One of the most popular dinosaur films has been the Jurassic Park film and much of the interest in dinosaurs has been generated from films such as this.
Many people including children have a great attraction to dinosaurs and it is no wonder with the mystery and publicity associated with them. This is surprising to some extent due to the vicious and violent nature that these animals are perceived to exhibit.
It is surprising that a child will sleep peacefully in Dinosaur Bedding and when their room is decorated with dinosaur items such as quilts and cushions, but it is a fact that kids do love these types of products.
Dinosaur Turtle
It is amazing what you can find in Museums, there are things you would never even dream about.
This wonderful Dinosaur Turtle has been photographed at the New York Museum of Natural History, New York. I would never have thought that turtles would grow so large. This one is just amazing.
This fossil shows the size of turtles in the era of the dinosaurs, it appears similar to the present day turtles but much larger.
Young children appear to have a great affinity for Dinosaurs and get very excited and attracted to them. Over the years there have been many dinosaur toys and merchandise items developed for children. Items like the kids Dinosaur bedding here are a great way to encourage the children’s interest in dinosaurs.
Photographing Frogs
Frogs are beautiful creatures to photograph. This one has been captured with a Nikon, Nikkor 200mm f/4D IF ED AF Micro Lens. This lens is my favourite for frogs as it is a reasonable length telephoto and is exceptionally sharp if used with a stable support.
Photographing Animals with Nikon Super Telephoto Lenses
This fox has been photographed with a Nikon camera and 300mm telephoto lens. Generally for larger animals a 300mm lens like the Nikon, Nikkor, 300mm f/4D IF ED AF-S Lens will be quite enough, however for smaller animals something a little longer may be required, or even sometimes something a little shorter.
Some of the alternative lenses suitable for animals are as follows:
Nikkor 200mm 2.0G ED AF-S VR II Lens Review
Nikkor 200mm f/4D IF ED AF Micro Lens Review
Nikkor 200-400mm f/4G ED ASF-S VR II Lens Review
Nikkor 300mm f/2.8G ED VR II AF-S Lens Review
Nikkor 400mm f/2.8G ED VR Lens Review
Nikkor 500mm f/4G ED VR Lens Review
Nikkor 600mm f/4G ED VR Lens Review
Some of the lenses listed above are Zooms and are very suitable for animal photography as the lens angle of view can be varied, depending on the distance the photographer is from the animal.
Grass Hopper
Photographing insects is a wonderful way to get into the world of nature and wildlife photography. Subjects for nature photography can always be found in your garden.
The above image has been captured with a Nikon D700 and a 200mm Micro lens. There are a range of Nikon lenses suitable for this type of photography. The Nikon, Nikkor 200mm f/4D IF ED AF Micro Lens is a great lens for this type of work but is quite expensive. If something a little cheaper is required then try the Nikon, Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED AF-S VR Micro Lens, this one is more compact and somewhat easier to handle. With the 200mm micro I generally use a monopod.
